Accent Natural Lighting

Never Underestimate Natural Light

If you have ever seen a photo of a home and wondered what it was that made everything just look a little better than normal, it was probably because the house had a ton of natural light.

Get the Most from Your Existing Natural Light

Large windows in common areas, like those in the Chelsea pictured above, can add a much needed touch to lift a space from dim to bright and airy. To get the most bang for your buck:

  • add mirrors on walls adjacent to your windows or in dark spots of your rooms to bounce natural light around.
  • use light, cool colors on the walls to boost the natural light
  • move furniture so that it isn't blocking your natural light

Add More Natural Light

You may decide that you need better sources of natural light. You can of course add windows to a room, or make existing windows larger, but other ways of adding natural light include adding doors that have windows, or adding skylights.
