During this year’s BCASWI Parade of Homes®, Alturas Homes is partnering with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Idaho to help grant wishes for deserving families of children with life-threatening medical conditions throughout the entire state.
When Parade-goers visit Alturas Homes’ entry into the Parade, they will be given the opportunity to donate their airline miles to the Wishes In Flight program. Each year, Make-A-Wish Idaho grants over 90 wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. Over 92% of those wishes require travel to their dream destination, theme parks, or to meet their favorite celebrity. A wish gives hope and is an experience that improves the quality of life for the child and their family. A travel wish includes the entire family.
Alturas Homes is aiming to raise 1-million miles during the Spring Parade, which runs from April 29th through May 14th. Alturas will match each 250,000 miles with a $500 donation to Make-A-Wish Idaho. The goal is to raise enough miles to send at least four families on their wishes.
“Make-A-Wish holds a special place in our hearts at Alturas Homes,” Alturas Homes President Rod Givens said. “The son of one of our employees was granted a wish in 2014. We witnessed first hand how special it was for them to experience a wish and how it helped bring their family together. It is our goal to be able to help pay it forward by granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. ”
“A wish experience can be transformational to not only the child, but to their entire family,” Make-A-Wish Idaho President & CEO Sarah Shinn said. “Last year, more than 90% of our wishes were travel related- to theme parks, to meet celebrities, see national monuments, or visit beaches. Donating unused airline miles is an easy way for to help grant an Idaho child’s wish and give them an experience that improves quality of life for the child and their family.”
Parade goers who wish to donate will need to provide the name of airline, the name on their frequent flier account, the account number and the number of miles being donated. We can accept miles from United, Delta and Alaska/Horizon. Miles for Southwest and American must be donated online.

Alturas’ parade entry is at 5755 N. Farleigh Way in Meridian (map to location - Google Maps doesn't yet show the new address). The home is open Monday-Thursday from 5pm-8pm and Friday-Sunday from noon-8pm.
