Alturas Homes has its roots in Idaho. Many of our floor plans will have Idaho-inspired names like the Clearwater, for the Clearwater River in the north central part of the state, or the Cambridge, named after the small town in western Idaho.
In Arbor, the Idaho-inspired floor plan names are centered around the Wood River Valley area in central Idaho. From towns, mountains, ski runs, famous people, and hiking trails, all these inspired names have a connection to a place in Idaho we love and cherish so much. As we launch our newest floor plan in Arbor, the Harriman, we thought it would be fun to share the other floor plan names and their connection to the Wood River Valley.

The Harriman Trail is a multi-purpose recreational trail in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, just a few miles north of Ketchum. One of the reasons why the Harriman trail is so impressive is the way the trail shadows Big Wood River, leapfrogging through spacious meadows, aspen stands, and lodgepole forests, always with the majestic Boulder Mountain Range as a scenic backdrop. The Harriman floor plan features open spaces and brings in an abundance of natural light, just like its Ketchum counterpart.
Bellevue is a crowned city in Blaine County, nestled close to the Big Wood River. Starting out as a mining town, Bellevue generated more than $60 million worth of silver, lead, and gold. Built on hard work, deep values, and resourcefulness, Bellevue is one of the most breathtaking and relaxing towns in Blaine County. The Bellevue in Arbor reflects historical values, with open spaces and relaxing accents throughout the home.
Blaine County is home to breathtaking views and memorable settings. Communities within the county are Bellevue, Carey, Ketchum, and Sun Valley. Founded on a strong mining economical base, the county recasted itself as a tourism destination when the ageless Sun Valley resort opened in 1936. The Blaine in Arbor stays true to its namesake, with bright and fresh looks settled around all corners of the home.
Carey is a small, agricultural community in Blain County. Nearby recreational sites include Carey Lake, Silver Creek, Craters of the Moon National Monument, and the Little Wood River. The Carey in Arbor perfectly represents the small but memorable town with its cozy design, complementing designs.
Elkhorn Peak is a lesser-known beauty visited mostly by the locals. Stitched in the heights of the Bannock Range, Elkhorn Peak is central in its location, offering views for any seasoned climber. Native Americans were the first people to climb these mountains. This includes the Bannock Range, which the range was named after. Much like its counterpart, the Elkhorn in Arbor offers a spacious opportunity to create memories you can't forget.
The Frenchman's Bend Hot Springs is a natural attraction, just like the Frenchman in Arbor. Located conveniently along the Warm Springs Creek in the Sawtooth National Forest, what makes this Hot Springs so popular is the picturesque location and natural beauty. The Frenchman in Arbor certainly encapsulates these qualities, making it a great addition to the community.
Picturesque. Memorable. Historical. These words describe the Galena Summit high mountain pass in Blaine County, a beautiful division for the Big Wood River and Salmon River region. The Galena in Arbor embodies the historic pass perfectly, a division in itself between impressive hardwood finishes and spacious finishes, with plenty of room to capture natural light.
The lowest trail on the mountain doesn't mean it has the worst view. Well, the same can be said for our Greyhawk floor plan in Arbor. The Greyhawk ski run nestled in the hills of the coveted Sun Valley resort is quaint and finishes off the Cozy, Hemingway, and Greyhawk ski runs, leading you to the warm springs base of the mountain. The cozy Greyhawk floor plan showcases a combination of light and airy looks while providing a relaxing setting, perfect for honoring a ski run.
Hailey, dubbed "Idaho's Hometown in the Mountains," is a gem of a town in the Central Rockies. The community is located just a few skips outside of the Sawtooth and Challis National Forest and is surrounded by public land. The Big Wood River navigates its way through the Valley right alongside the city of Hailey. The Hailey in Arbor is just as impressive, boasting chic accents and attention to detail in every space.
Ernest Hemingway was a man of no small reputation. Neither is the Hemingway in Arbor. Ernest Hemingway first came to Sun Valley in 1939 at the invitation of Averill Harriman, then chairman of the Union Pacific Railroad. The up-and-coming resort was calling celebrities like Hemingway in hopes to attract more visitors. The great outdoors attracted Hemingway to stay and leave a legacy, reflected in the Hemingway floor plan. With plenty of space for any family adventure, the Hemingway certainly honors its inspiration.
Junipers are some spectacular plants scattered around Blaine County. Blaine County is well-known for its natural, rugged beauty and the juniper plant certainly adds value to the area with deep colors and would fit well in any setting. The Juniper in Arbor showcases similar versatility with all the natural light you could wish for, generating a warm, inviting vibe.
The Warm Springs
The Warm Springs Creek is a tributary of the Big Wood River. The Warm Springs Creek is diverse and memorable, given that many areas around Blaine County and the Wood River Vally are named after the Springs, and it comes as no surprise since the feature spans over 20 miles and provides habitat to many species of fish. The Warm Springs in Arbor gives a broad look at what is possible when you combine soft colors with deep knowledge of building.
